On Wednesday, July 8, over 100 CWA members packed the room for the State Health Benefits Commission meeting to tell the State that working people should not foot the bill for runaway healthcare costs while hospitals and insurance companies jack up prices and escape accountability
We rallied outside the State Division of Taxation early in the morning before the hearing where the Commission made recommendations to balance budgets by increasing worker contributions to healthcare plans. CWA members are standing firm in our demand for a comprehensive fix to the broken healthcare system, and held a 3,000-person-strong rally for the cause last month at the statehouse annex.
The SHBC is expected to meet again on July 27 to vote on the recommendations.
