From June 1-3, 2026, CWA Local 1037 joined CWA members and staff from across the country in the nation’s capitol. Our staff attended panel discussions about the battles fought by CWA members for AI safeguards in journalism, proper staffing in airline staff and work-readiness programs, Union recognition in the private and public sectors, and much more. We heard directly from CWA 1180 members working at The Trevor Project about the dangerous effects of the Department of Human Services funding cuts to specialized LGBTQ+ care on the national 988 Lifeline crisis hotline.

CWA 1037 welcomed pro-labor elected officials to the conference including CWA-member Kaela Berg, a working flight attendant and Minnesota State Representatives who is running for Congress, and met with the majority of New Jersey’s Congressional Representatives to discuss a full workers’ rights legislative agenda that will benefit CWA members, their families, and put workers over billionaires. A frequent quote about staying politically active that was uttered at the conference was “if you’re not at the table, you’re on the menu” and CWA has ensured its members have a proper seat at the table.
