CWA Members at The Arc of Essex County Vote to Ratify New Contract

On May 11 and 12, 2026, CWA Local 1037 members at The Arc of Essex County voted overwhelmingly to ratify a new Union contract.

The negotiated contract includes higher wages across the board, higher longevity bonuses, healthcare deductible maximums, increased clothing allowance, and more. Members can view the Tentative Agreement summary HERE.

In the weeks leading up to the ratification vote, Shop Stewards held 25 in-person informational meetings and 3 virtual meetings with members to discuss the terms of the agreement, welcoming over 10 new Union members who were excited to vote for a fair contract.

“Bargaining for a fair contract has been a long process, but because of our unity and organization, we were able to stand strong and hold out for what we workers deserve. This contract ensures job, pay, and quality of life protections that we were not willing to compromise on,” said Adeline Clesca, Shop Steward.

“We spent a lot of time contacting members to identify their priorities in a new contract, and had great participation in our bargaining survey. We’ve come out of this process stronger and more united,” said Manuel Burse, Shop Steward.

“We work very hard at our jobs, and it is physically and emotionally taxing work, so we held out for a contract that pays us accordingly. It wasn’t easy but I’m proud to say we earned a contract that helps all workers,” said Donna King, Shop Steward.

The new contract begins March 1, 2026 through February 28, 2029, with wage increases retroactive to January 1, 2026.
