CWA Members at La Casa de Don Pedro Unanimously Vote to Ratify Union Contract

During the week of March 9, 2026, CWA Local 1037 members at La Casa de Don Pedro (LCDP) voted a unanimous “Yes!” to ratify a new Union contract. Voting was held at six LCDP locations over a period of three days. A tentative agreement was reached the week prior between CWA and LCDP, concluding over a year-long negotiation period. CWA Local 1037 members at LCDP workers had been working under the previous contract, which expired in December 2024.

The new contract includes wage increases in each year, more time off, greater employer contributions towards retirement security, and more. View the major details of the new contract HERE.

“Thank you to all our members for putting their trust in our bargaining committee,” said Diocelin Velasquez, Shop Steward and Teacher at La Casa de Don Pedro, First Street location in Newark. “It was a long process but worth the wait, because this contract accomplishes a wide range of objectives that were important to dozens of workers. That’s why over 90% of our members voted, a historic turnout.

This was a long period of negotiations, but members stayed engaged the whole while, as emphasized by the unanimous YES vote. Members fought until they got a contract that properly valued their work.

The contract will be retroactively effective from January 1, 2025 to June 30, 2028.
