CWA has appealed the grievance decision by DCF to continue excluding clerical staff from the State’s Telework Pilot Program to the NJ Civil Service Commission. The NJ Civil Service Commission will review the Union’s and DCF’s positions and make a determination if the DCF policy violates the NJ CSC rules on telework.
The telework option, which had been granted to State Workers back in June, unfairly excluded DCF clerical staff, even though workers had teleworked effectively throughout the pandemic.
In August, clerical workers testified during a grievance hearing challenging DCF’s decision to exclude clerical workers from the Telework Policy Program. Prior to the hearing, workers had carried out multiple collective actions to request a meeting with the Commissioner and demand inclusion in the telework program, including sending hundreds of letters, emails, and picketing at the DCF Central Office.
