State Worker Contract Bargaining Update

March 15, 2018

Dear CWA Local 1037 Member,

The CWA Bargaining Committee and the Murphy Administration are currently in negotiations to resolve all legal, contractual and retroactive matters (including wages, increments and other benefits.) In an attempt to come to a resolution as quickly as possible, bargaining will continue next week. Negotiations will be ongoing until a tentative agreement is reached.

The Bargaining Committee is comprised of myself, the six other State Worker Local Presidents, CWA NJ Director Hetty Rosenstein, and District 1 Vice President Dennis Trainor. Legal counsel Steve Weissman is also representing us at the bargaining table.

We recognize and appreciate your patience as we work diligently to complete these negotiations and present you with a tentative agreement for a vote. We are aware that members may be anxious for updates, and are awaiting a new contract which addresses our increments, across-the-board wage increases, and other matters.

The Bargaining Committee will keep members informed and will provide details once a tentative agreement is reached. As always, the tentative agreement and information regarding its provisions will be made available to all members. We will schedule meetings with members to discuss the provisions of the tentative agreement prior to a membership vote.

We are beginning the process of undoing the damage of eight years of a hostile Christie administration, but we will need your support. We have the opportunity to move our Union and New Jersey forward, but only if we are united and strong.

In Solidarity,

Ken McNamara,
President
