Congratulations to CWA 1037 member Jessica Bournè and Sean August Smith, son of CWA 1037 member Sandra J. Smith, on winning scholarship awards! Jessica Bournè was awarded a 2022 Union Plus Scholarship in the amount of $4,000 to attend Rutgers University in the fall. “I am extremely honored and blessed that they awarded the full amount of the scholarship,” Jessica said. “I’ll be studying a Masters in Public Administration, and I am over the moon excited to start this chapter.” This year, Union Plus awarded $200,000 in scholarships to 189 students representing 38 unions, including 13 winners from CWA. 

Sean August Smith, son of CWA 1037 member Sandra J. Smith, was awarded an Ed Purtill Community Service Scholarship in the amount of $1,000. Sean is attending flight school at the United Aviate Academy to become a pilot with United Airlines. “Sean was so happy to receive the scholarship,” Sandra Smith said. “This is extremely helpful towards his education.”
